I tug at his arm and his eyes slowly open still half asleep. He looks at me questioning my action and I say, “Remember me.”

The embrace. It was neither a hello or a goodbye, but a stern “I’ll see you again, whether in this lifetime or the next.” It was short and sweet, careful not to linger. If it had lasted a moment longer the meaning would have vanished altogether, and nothing but awkwardness would have come about.
We let go and I’m left wondering if everything was just one sided. Afterall, I’m not quite sure I’m ready to admit or say anything at all.
But for now, this is more than enough.
We part. Going our separate ways to continue living our separate lives.
